Memorable Moments

03-04-2010 @ 10:23,Pauline,Pauline, Leave comment - 1

The most memorable moment for me was when Jasey Jay Anderson won gold in snowboard parallel slalom.  He beat his Austrian favourite, Benjamin Karl.  He was behind after his first run but he did his best on the second run that let him get his gold medal.

He was proud of himself.  So GOOD JOB and CONGRATULATIONS to him.

They're almost the same number of medals.  These athletes are so good!

Chubby Mint

02-02-2010 @ 21:53,Pauline,Pauline, Leave comment - 4

Name: Chubby Mint

Gender: Male

Loves: He likes winter.  He also likes snowboarding.  He loves to eat

fish and mints(that's why he's chubby!).

More about him: He's friendly and sweet.  He has friends and they're Peggy and Steve.  His friends invited him to the 2010 Vancouver Olympics and wanted him to join.  Chubby Mint joined the Olympics

and is now preparing.  He's competing in snowboarding.  I hope he will win!

Situations to avoid: When he's eating, please don't disturb him or he will get mad and bad things will happen!

Reason I chose Chubby Mint to be my own mascot: I thought of

winter animals and the first thing that came to my mind is the polar bear.  I put a scarf and a hat with the Olympic rings so he wont be cold and a medal to represent that everyone is a winner.

Naming him: I chose the name 'Chubby Mint' because Steve wanted him to be 'chubby' and Peggy wants him to be 'mint' so I thought of putting 'chubby' and 'mint' together.

Birgit Fischer Schmidt was born on February 25th, 1962 at Brandenburg, Germany.  She competed for the first time in the Olympics at the young age of 18.  She also set a record for the youngest canoeist to win an Olympic gold medal.  In 1988, everyone was surprised after she announced her retirement.  She now holds 2 titles, 'The first woman to hold Olympic gold medals in 24 years apart' and 'the best German Sportsman of the year.'  At the age of 42, she finally won her eight medal.  Her name is permanently etched in the record book.  She was now living with her family in her hometown in Bradenburg, Germany.

I chose these things because I thought they were important things in the Olympics.

I put the maple leaf in the middle because this year's Olympics will be in Canada. I also included the mittens because almost everyone had them and they are a 2010 Olympic souvenir.  The torch and the medal were commonly in the Olympics so I thought of including them.

Gaining a gold medal,

One ambition of China

Led the finals by Han Xiaopeng

Doing his best for his nation

Making it through the end is surely a lot of training,

Enlightening tons of citizens in several ways,

Dealing with the accident his sport conveyed to him,

Achieved a tremendous success,

Leaving a historical legend in the Olympics.

Lights Will Guide You Video Response

The video was really great.  It shows many things that had happen in the past.  The torch relays was in the video.  It shows the first torch relay through the past years from now.

Some people were crying because they won and some because they lost.  I know it's hard for them when they don't win because they practiced almost everyday.  Winning in a competition or a game is hard but you just have to believe in yourself and make yourself feel comfortable.  Every person has their own strengths and weakness so you must try hard and not give up.

It must be very emotional when you're running the torch.  It's a great honour to be that person.  I hope someday I'm going to be that person.
